MSN is the result of Microsoft’s efforts to enter the search and Internet portal market. As the third most popular search destination, Microsoft has used its vast resources to market its search engine, but has landed in the third position as far as popularity is concerned. Over the past few years, MSN has been losing market share to both Google and Yahoo!, and has made several attempts at improving its search results with limited success. MSN rankings are more content based than any of the other engines, so it is the easiest engine to improve rankings in with a short (4 to 6 months) term turnaround time. Of course this time-frame does not apply to every keyword as some are extremely competitive no matter what the engine.
