Social Media Marketing (SMM) Services

Social media marketing (SMM) services are designed to take advantage of social media platforms around which large online communities are created. By leveraging the power of such communities, we can help clients expand their reach beyond the search engines, and tap directly into their target audience’s daily only social experience.

Social media marketing relies heavily on creativity and the ability to evolve as conditions change. As pioneers in the social media arena, we can provide not only great insight into the psychology of online communities but also help develop social media marketing campaigns that will help your business plug into this ‘living’ collective.

Social media marketing requires identifying the proper audience and more importantly recognizing their mood, since this is the foundation of developing a successful long-term social media campaign.

Social Media Platforms

Social media refers to any online website that relies on its community to generate content, and it incorporates features and tools to make the website as socially interactive as possible for the users. At the most basic level, social media is a means for people of common interest to 'gather' and share their passion about a topic. There are a large number of social media websites which are well known and command a large portion of the social media traffic. There are of course always new websites that are developed and gain popularity, so we are on the lookout for those. For now, here are the major social sites.

Social Networking Sites

Social networking sites are designed to leverage the traditional social network model for building a virtually connected social network. In day-to-day life humans gravitate towards like-minded people, expanding their network of friends, colleagues, and associates. The interaction which results in the development of the social network is limited by physical presence. With online social networking platforms, this limitation is eliminated, making possible the creation of massive social networks. The most attractive aspect of social networking for businesses is that because of the virtual presence that makes the networking possible, the entity doing the networking does not need to be an individual, but can also be a local grocery store, or a multi-national corporation.

Facebook

Facebook was originally developed to be a community for Harvard students. Only individuals with a Harvard email address were able to sign up and participate, but now the community is open to everyone and the user base has been growing exponentially.
Facebook allows users to connect and keep in touch with friends though message boards, tools that help find friends, and other features that help make the community lively and interesting.

Linkedin

Linkedin is a professional networking platform which provides a variety of tools to help its users develop and promote an online curriculum vitae. Aside from being an electronic resume repository, Linkedin provides the opportunity for business owners to develop social profiles for their companies, promote their businesses, as well as maintain and grow their personal and company connections through participation in groups, or person-to-person connections.

Microbloging

As the name suggests, microblogging is a variation to the traditional blogging, and differs by the fact that the content presented in each post is much smaller. A microblog entry will often consist of a short sentence, sentence fragment, link, video, or image.

Twitter

Twitter is a popular microblogging platform which restricts its users to posting 140 character entries. The 140 characters include any links which might be embedded into the entry. Surprisingly, what seems like a oppressively restrictive means of communication, can be harnessed to not only be a personal tool but also a powerful marketing platform.

Tumblr

Tumblr is another popular microblogging platform. It offers a bit more flexibility than Twitter. It allows its users to post text, images, video, links, and audio to their blogging account. Though it provides a more capable list of entry options, it is more suitable for non-commercial personal use.

Social Bookmarking

Social bookmarking is the process of selectively sharing bookmarks and browsing activities. The participation of social bookmarking website members makes the discovery of new and interesting websites and web pages a community activity.

Digg

Digg is what is called a social bookmarking website. It allows its visitors to submit web pages (e.g. news stories, images, videos, articles, etc), which are then voted on by other community users. The more diggs (votes) a story receives the higher it will rank in the categorized listings of www.digg.com. Users also have the opportunity to comment on the submission and hold a discussion.

Stumbleupon

Stumbleupon started as a browser toolbar which allowed users to mark their favorite pages as they browsed the internet. The Stumbleupon toolbar in turn served those bookmarked pages to other Stumbleupon toolbar users who were 'stumbling' for new web pages. By clicking the 'Stumble' button, the toolbar user would be served a randomly chosen page from the massive collection of bookmarked pages. Like other websites, Stumbleupon is evolving and slowly changing to cater more to what the users are looking for, and is starting to take on characteristics of other social bookmarking sites.

Delicious

Originally del.icio.us, Delicious, is one of the oldest and well respected social bookmarking websites which allows users to save their bookmarks (favorite pages) online and share it with the Delicious community. Just like Digg, Delicious also allows for voting, commenting and the creation of friends and connections with the other users.
